At Pro Safety and Training we care about keeping your business safe. Within all industries (construction, manufacturing, mining, oil and gas) workers are commonly working with chemicals, substances and materials. By law manufacturers of these products must provide a Safety Data Sheet (SDS), previously called Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS).
This news post is designed to assist you in finding SDS relevant to products you are using. To help you with this we have provided an example below.
Situation: Pro Safety and Training was recently engaged to assist an Australian business choose the right RPE (Respiratory Protective Equipment) and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for the work they were undertaking. They are a construction company and workers were often using spray paints, one of which included White Knight Rust Guard 300g Structural Steel Topcoat Aerosol. To assist us in finding the right RPE and PPE and filters to wear we had to access the SDS.
Option 1: Google it
The problem with this is that sometimes you are unable to find the SDS and some of the results may not be relevant.
Option 2: Search the product, find the Code and Search again
Step 1- We search for the Model Number of the product.
Step 2- We search for the manufacturer Safety Data Sheet bank.
Step 3- We type the model number/code into the SDS Bank.
Step 4- We have access to our SDS.
Failing the above methods contact your manufacturer and you can request a copy of their Safety Data Sheets.
